Ok, I'm convinced.
I'm going to start playing Guild Wars, starting from Prophecies. My girlfriend and I play MMORPGs together, so what are two complementing classes besides the obvious? ( Warrior and Monk )
Also, do any of you veterans have any suggestions on what to do after we complete the campaigns? Something that will be fun and entertaining for us both? My other thread got moved, so I apologize if it was inappropriate or in the wrong forum. Thanks for renewing my passion for this game. It is one of my favorites, if not my favorite. |

At least one of you should be monk, it will make everything easier as far as getting parties and succeeding in them.
Any other class will work and have good synergy. It all comes down to what play style you like the best, really. |

I would recommend ranger, ele or necro.
If you are starting in prophecies. If you have EOTN you can start doing Dungeons. DOA in Nightfall and Sorrow's in Prophecies. ahh, I almost forgot, the elite misisons from factions, Urgoz and Deep |

I have the same situation with my gal. She had played before, but when I started playing I picked Ele and she created a monk and played through with me. Big damage + good heals = win.
You should play what you like though. Part of the game is making it work in different situations/groupings. |

Mostly any classes will be fine with each other, as most of the parties are going to be made up of more than just the two of you anyway (through pugs or heroes/henchmen). Just pick what interests you/what you like the most.

my husband and I started out together as warrior and elemental...(we both picked monk as our secondary--)...but you can pick just about anything since you can get henchmen (when you get to that part of the game) to fill out the rest of your group.....and you can always make more than one character!!!
play around and have fun---and welcome to guildwars! |

If one of you plays Monk, the other can play pretty much anything. Having a human controlled Monk around can make missions a lot easier. And you can take turns monking as well - you will always have a minimum of 4 character slots to play with per account. Experiment with the professions and see which pairing works best for you and your girlfriend.
As for things to do after you complete the campaigns, there are a lot of things you can do. Fistly, there's Hard Mode; you can play through the game again with a higher difficulty setting (and get some very nice rewards in the process). Secondly, there are the elite missions; Sorrow's Furnace in Prophecies, Urgoz's Warren and The Deep in Factions, and Domain of Anguish in Nightfall - some very challenging and rewarding end-game content there too. Also, if you have Eye of the North, you can do the dungeons - fully repeatable, a great challenge, and each dungeon has its own unique feel to it. Another thing you could try for fun is screenshotting. The guys in the Community Contests forum here got me into that, and it's a highly addictive in-game pastime |

My boyfriend and I also play together.
As we play played through the campaigns for the first time together, I always played the healer and he was the target-caller/director of our group in various capacities (he was an Assassin for our first time in Factions, Warrior in NF, Ele in Prophecies, Ranger in EotN...so he was always the damage-dealer). It seemed to work well for us, because he monitored the frontline and I monitored the backline for our group. If neither of you are interested in being a Monk, I'd still suggest that you somehow split the frontline/backline aspect, perhaps one plays a caster class and the other a melee/physical attacker. Of course, you should play the classes you are interested in and not feel forced to play any class! As far as things to do together after the game is done...my boyfriend and I have done dungeons (Normal Mode and Hard Mode), worked on some titles together, completed elite areas like Urgoz/DoA/Underworld, saved up for special elite armors and weapons together, etc. There's 4 game storylines to play through though, so for now, that's a fairly large chunk of content for you guys to do currently. The high end stuff can be done much later, after you've both gotten plenty of elite skill captures and so on. Good luck and have fun.
